- WELCOME
The Ouray County Baseball league is able to host teams for the ages of 4-15, and the Ridgway Secondary School just launched their first JV team in 20 years in 2026, with hopes to have a Varsity team in a couple of years as well!
Teams are set up as follows:
- Tee-Ball (Ages 4-5): Kids are hitting off of stationary tees
- Coach Pitch (Ages 6-7): The team coach softly underhand tosses the ball to the kid batting.
- Machine Pitch (Ages 8-9): Kids are hitting off a machine that is throwing pitches over the plate.
- Kid Pitch 11U (Ages 10-11): Kids start learning how to pitch to the other team themselves and then work on refining those skills in preparation for high school JV/Varsity.
- Kid Pitch 13U (Ages 12-13): Kids continue to refine pitching skills, batting skills, & fielding skills in preparation for high school JV/Varsity.
- Kid Pitch 15U (Ages 14-15): Kids continue to refine pitching skills, batting skills, & fielding skills in preparation for high school JV/Varsity.
The goal of Ouray County Baseball is to allow all children to practice IN THE COUNTY instead of parents always driving to Montrose. We also hold some games locally when possible (though field space is an issue).
There is currently a small field in Ouray that works for the younger teams to practice on (base depths are set for 60' and 70' baselines), OCB & Ridgway Elementary just joined together and revitalized the old school field for practices (best for age 13U and below because of a shorter outfield depth), and Frontier Field at the Athletic Park in Solar Ranch shares outfield space with a soccer field (so no permanent outfield fencing), but it's a great field for all ages to practice and play on.

In 2016, Ouray County Baseball (OCB) was founded as a nonprofit organization created by passionate parents and baseball enthusiasts who breathed life back into Frontier Field at the Ridgway Athletic Park. They have built a thriving baseball program that now serves the youth of Ouray County (and as far away as Silverton!).
Currently, OCB is partnering with the Town of Ridgway on an ambitious expansion project showcased in the official Ridgway Athletic Park Master Plan in 2024 to construct two regulation-sized baseball fields. The development will provide a permanent home for baseball in Ridgway and Ouray where young players can develop their skills from childhood through high school and beyond, strengthening community connections and ensuring recreational opportunities for generations to come.
These new fields will be built as soon as the funds are raised. If you love baseball or simply want to support outdoor recreation in our county, please click on the Capital Campaign button to learn more!
